NAILTA Accomplishments and Initiatives in 2010
 

1. Coordinated the 2010 NAILTA Annual Conference in Atlantic City, New Jersey which was attended by approximately 200 title insurance agents, title insurance underwriter representatives, real estate attorneys, vendors, sponsors and guests from across the United States.
2. Provided comment on HUD's RESPA "required use" Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPR).
3. Created first-ever definition of "independent land title insurance agent."
4. Submitted testimony regarding New York's proposed "public title insurance option" bill.
5. Advised the New Mexico Department of Insurance on proposed rate rule changes.
6. Presented as keynote address at the Ohio Association of Independent Title Agents (OAITA) Annual Convention in Columbus, Ohio.
7. Testified at the NAIC Title Insurance Task Force Meeting in Orlando, Florida against the proliferation of private transfer fee covenants.
8. Provided written testimony concerning the proposed Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's pending takeover of RESPA oversight.
9. Drafted public relations memorandum concerning ongoing national foreclosure crisis.
10. Coordinated member discounts for joint members of state independent land title associations, such as the OAITA, and NAILTA.
11. Represented NAILTA at numerous public functions/seminars on title insurance matters in Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Florida.
12. Provided testimony to NAIC's Title Insurance Task Force regarding proposed data collection methods for title insurance.
13. Supported the creation of state organized independent land title associations.
14. Developed continuing education course programming options for NAILTA members in 2011.
15. Held two Board retreats -- one in Philadelphia, PA, the other in Baltimore, MD -- concerning the future development of NAILTA.
